Mrs.Williams first book is titled Malaika, she is at the present time working on her second and third books 'Hidden Secret Exposed' and 'Our Romantic Adventure.' She has written a number of poems and short stories entitled The Cotton Patch Blues, Something Perfect Something Beautiful, A Mothers Breast, Wandering Soul, Mrs.Maddies Tea Cakes and some favorite short stories Mother of a Bride, A Personal Touch and A Romantic Story. She has captured a love for writing and a passion for gardening. Her favorites is beautiful flowers and her eight apple trees which she believes is a healer to the soul.

Betty Shelia Williams

 

Born Betty Shelia Felton in a small town outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Her grandparents and parents were Sharecroppers during the early 1930s through the late 60s. Betty attended the Byromville Elementary school in 1956-1960 and graduated from Vienna High and Industrial School in 1967. She attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Byromville, Georgia as a small child up until becoming a teenager. In 1967 after graduation, she moved north to New York State and took a job working in the public works department as a secretary.

 

She later got married and had one daughter. In 1973 she had a second daughter and later attended Syracuse Beauty School. In 1973 she landed a job at International Business Machine (IBM) and worked there for twenty years until the late 80s.  She attended Broome Community College intermittently taking several diverse courses. In 1989 she met and married her current husband Rev. Leroy Williams Sr.; a long time resident of Binghamton, New York. At the age of 55 she took an interest in writing and wrote a number of poems. At the age of 58 she wrote her first published book titled Malaika. Since then, she has continued to write a number of novels, short stories and poems. She currently resides in Binghamton, New York where she has taken up writing full time.
